The Three Billing Modes
Every sub-account runs on one of three billing modes. The mode you choose determines how each AI product is metered and billed.

How Conversation AI Cost Is Calculated
Conversation AI bills on tokens, which are small units of text. Input tokens cover customer messages, conversation history, agent instructions, and knowledge-base content pulled into the response. Output tokens are what the AI generates back.
Example on GPT-5 ($1.25/1M input, $10.00/1M output): a conversation using 100,000 input tokens and 25,000 output tokens costs $0.375.
Two conversations on the same model can still cost different amounts. The deciding factors are message length, number of back-and-forth turns, conversation history length, and how much knowledge-base content gets pulled into each response.
How Voice AI Cost Is Calculated
On Pay-Per-Use, Voice AI bills three components:
- Voice Engine: $0.045/min (effective May 2026)
- TTS: varies by provider. OpenAI and Cartesia are $0.015/min. ElevenLabs ranges from $0.035 to $0.17/min.
- LLM token cost: the underlying model usage for the call.
Phone System (telephony) charges apply on top, separately, regardless of AI plan tier. This is the one cost that never disappears, even on Unlimited.
On Growth, 100 AI Agent minutes per month are included, covering inbound, outbound, and widget usage combined. On Unlimited, Voice AI is unlimited across inbound, outbound, and widget. It is fully covered on Unlimited.
Ask AI and AI Studio
Both are billed the same way and measured in 5-hour usage windows rather than a monthly cap:
- Pay-Per-Use: token cost per session
- Growth: usage included within each 5-hour window
- Unlimited: 3x the Growth limit within each 5-hour window
Session cost on Pay-Per-Use varies with task complexity, number of AI turns, whether approvals are required, and whether the session creates or updates assets in the platform.

Where to Monitor Usage
Agency Admins review AI spend, token usage, and per-location breakdowns in the AI Suite at the agency level, not from individual sub-account pages. Rebilling AI usage to client sub-accounts requires the agency to be on the $497/mo plan.
Keep an eye on the AI Suite regularly. Spotting a spike early lets you adjust agent scope or knowledge-base size before it turns into a surprise on your invoice.
